Working Towards Zero-Waste Branding

Working Towards Zero-Waste Brand Material

Valuing printed matter as a studio we recently developed our in-house branding material. We wanted to produce high quality stationary whilst remaining aware of our environmental impact so chose to print with the G.F Smith Extract range, a paper made from recycled coffee cups. As described by GF Smith, “Extract is a pioneering paper inspired by our environment. It is a dynamic combination of chemistry and artistry that takes disposable paper coffee cups destined for landfill and transforms them into beautiful paper.”

In collaboration with the team at CupCycling, G.F Smith takes 95% of the waste from each coffee cup and converts it back to FSC certified paper fibre. This means every standard sheet of Extract 380gsm paper contains at least five upcycled coffee cups. The remaining 5% of waste – which is plastic – is used for energy recovery in the production of recycled paper. It’s a zero waste process, so the more Extract that gets used, the less polyethylene goes to landfill.
